Wrong will be right, when Aslan comes in sight,
At the sound of his roar, sorrows will be no more.

When he bears his teeth, winter meets its death
And when he shakes his mane, we will have spring again.
~C.S. Lewis

This is an illustration from the chapter actually titled "Deep Magic from the Dawn of Time" found in C.S. Lewis's "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" first of the Narnia Chronicles.
This is when he is making a deal with the White Witch exchanging his own life for that of the traitor Edmund.

Personally....I think this is the best painting I have ever done to date.
It took me a long time to get to a point where I could even dream of making something like this. Inspired by the movie coming out in December and in need of childrens book illustrations for my portfolio I decided to finally make the picture of Aslan I've always wanted to. I have read and re-read the Narnia books and this one is probably my fav. I tried to really capture just one small moment of it.

There are little juicy details all over the place so I suggest a fullview.
PS/OC....lots of time.

EDIT- Wow DD I'm so excited! Thank you silentkitty and Ntopp! Also everyone who is leaving such lovely comments and favs I can't thank you enough.

Just So it isn't repeated over and over I know that the magicians nephew is first chronologically however lion witch and wardrobe was published first (in some printings it even says book 1 on the actual cover) and Magicians nephew was published later on. C.S. Lewis did this purposefully to release the actual orgins of Narnia after you became familiar with Aslan and some other characters. I really think Magicians Nephew and Lion,Witch and Wardrobe are the best of the entire series and its almost like a pleasant suprise to save the very first for the very last.

Oh! That's really beautiful... Love the colouring, the expressions! Though, there's something a little wrong with Aslan's paws... 8/ I can't quite understand what exactly.

I really like how you did the Witch. It's like she's yelling her head off and Aslan's just...get it over with, I'm gonna win anyway....GOOD JOB!
